This Privacy Policy describes how VietMarket ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our platform at vietmarket.ca (the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address — required for registration and account management.
  • Display name — shown publicly on your listings and profile.
  • Profile photo — optional; sourced from your Google or Facebook account (OAuth) or uploaded by you.
  • Phone number — optional; displayed on your listings if you choose to share it.
  • Biography — optional; shown on your public profile.

Listing Content

When you post a listing, we collect the content you provide: titles, descriptions, photos, pricing, contact methods (phone, email, Zalo, Facebook Messenger), and category-specific details (e.g., housing amenities, job requirements).

Reviews and Reports

We store reviews you write (ratings and comments) and any content reports (flags) you submit about other listings.

Usage Data

Our hosting infrastructure (Supabase) may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To display your listings and profile to other users of the Service.
  • To send transactional emails related to your account (e.g., password reset, email verification) via Supabase Auth.
  • To moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • To improve and maintain the platform.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Data may be stored on servers in the United States. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified.
  • Google Sign-In— optional OAuth login. If you use Google to sign in, Google's Privacy Policy governs how Google handles your data.
  • Facebook Login— optional OAuth login. If you use Facebook to sign in, Meta's Privacy Policy governs how Meta handles your data.

4. Cookies

We use a single session cookie set by Supabase Auth to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. You may disable cookies in your browser, but this will prevent you from signing in.

5. Data Retention

Your account and listings are retained until you delete them or request account deletion. Deleted listings are removed from public view immediately. If you would like your account and all associated data permanently deleted, please contact us at contact@vietmarket.ca.

6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information (you can update most of this yourself in your profile settings).
  • Withdraw consent and request deletion of your data.
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have violated your privacy rights.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
